*Shadow watched as Raist worked his magics upon the book they had recovered. It was good that they had such a powerful mage in their midst, even though he had never seen too much practical use in magic. Give him a blade and secrets over spells anyday. When Raist announced the meanings of the final few spells, Shadow nodded, having expected something of the sort. The Drow were notorious for their necromancy and dealings with the dead and denizens of the lower planes. He had seen them raise corpses on several occasions. But this time, a shiver passed throug him. They had found a way to enslave the spirits themselves...*
So how might we counter this magic, Raist? We need to know quickly before night falls. SForce is still where these things come forth from. I fear he will be overrun by them... Or the Drow.

~Raist eyed Shadow then looked over the pages of the spell.~
"It is possible to sever the link the spell has on the spirits. If that can be done then the spirits will have the ability to ascend to the next plain of existence. Being that it's the spirits of the elves from the forest they will be glad to move on. I'll study this spell and perform a counter conductive incantation that will disrupt the hold it has."
~Looking at the spell made him smile. It was ingenious. Never has there been such a powerful necro spell ever in history. It's things like this that thrill the cold heart. Unfortunately he notices he is unprepared.~
"This is a spell of such intricacy that I'm forced to call on some old debts. You'd be best to help SF while I gather what I need. Morge will fortify the gates and I must get what I need. I'll then stand before the forest with the spell book and render this spell inept."

*Shadow nodded again. It was not the plan he had been hoping for, but they would do as they must. Now all they could do was buy some time for Raist to work this powerful counterspell. He turned to JC.*
Let us make haste back to the chapel. We must get back to SF's side before the night comes again.
*He turned and headed for the door of Raist's chambers, smirking a bit as the squire scurried to get out of his way this time. As he slipped out of the doorway, he addressed Raist again.*
Be as quick as you can, good leader, or else we might all perish this night...
*With that, he slipped out, making his way out of the castle.*

*JC follows Shadow out. Before he left he said*
"Be careful with the spell leader, because the counterspell is always more powerful then the original"
*JC follows Shadow to forest. The sun sets for the day as the two meet up with SF*

~As the two left his chambers Raistlin quirked a smile.~
"You have no idea how powerful my friend."
~From his book case Raist slid his fingers along the wood of his case. One small spot sank in at his touch. The side of his case opened and a book slid out. He took the book in hand and turned a couple pages. The squire that Shadow tossed to the side before came to his side.~
"Interesting book, sir. Where did it come from?"
"Every mage is given a blank book when they are young and in school. Every bit of teaching and notes are put in here. It is also where we write some of our first spells. I keep a record of every spell I ever write here."
"So like keeping copies just in case." The squire was standing a bit too close now, but Raist was turning the pages and didn't pay attention. "Hey that one there looks a lot like the spell in the book you just revealed."
"Very observant, but you mind going about other duties? I must be alone to work my magic."
~The squire bowed and apologized. Raist set the two books down next to each other after the squire left. The spells were identical. He smiled again as he touched them both with opposite hands.~
"Well now. I didn't know you would use it like this. I might have made the counter spell more simple if I knew. Now your toying around is coming back to get me. You should have known better then to use a spell against the creator."
~On the back page of the spell in his spell book he had an itemized components list. This is what he'd need to do the counter spell.~

*Night was settling down in the forest when JC and Shadow reached the ancient chapel again. Their approach was cautious, as there no sign of SF yet. Fearing that speaking aloud would give away their presence to any unfriendly creatures that might happen to be nearby, Shadow issued a call of a bird that was not indigenous to the area, hoping SF would recognize the ruse.*
