yeah but that makes it seem so bad. ressuraction = bad easter = bunny = good
do you see how mainstream pop culture ruins religion...

If you want to get technical, Easter was actually a pagan holiday called Oester. The Christians decided they would take it just like they take everything else.

Christmas (Yule) Dec 21st Feast of the Purification of the Virgin (Imbolc) Feb 2nd Easter (Oester, Ostara) May 1st Hallowe'en (Samhain, Feast of All Saint's Eve) Oct 31st May Day (Beltane) April 30th The Christian religion had only a poor substitute for the life-affirming Maypole - namely, the death-affirming cross. Hence, in the Christian calendar, this was celebrated as 'Roodmas'. Feast of St. John the Baptist (Litha) June 21st
Those are just a few holidays Christians have adopted as their own. I give the Christian name (Pagan name) and original date of observance.
They're pretty much all Celtic (which, is really just a catch-all term for Francs, Gauls and Britons: pretty much any Germanic-language speaking group). It's hard to pick out where a single holiday originated.
