Here is my list of the 20 best Metal and Hardcore bands of all time.
20
Guns N' RosesGuns N' Roses is what got me into Metal, they have wrote some songs that have been credited as the best of the 80's (Welcone to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine) And truly inspired many great bands after their time
19
AC/DC
I never really got into AC/DC, but they are very well known as really knowing how to ROCK!!!!!
18
Korn
I know someone is going to get Pissed that I put one of the best modern Metal/rap/rock bands this far down the list, well, TOO DAMN BAD! If you don't like it make your own list! I made this decision because I have never really acquired a taste for their music. I do know they have influenced many underground bands, along with a hell of a lot of garage bands. Any band that has had this great of an influence (other than The Beetles) deserves a spot on my top 20 list.
17
Arch Enemy
Lets all face it, if you have ever once listened to Arch Enemy, you know they kick ass. I made the mistake almost everyone who has listened to anyone of their songs has made. I mistook Angela Gossow, the lead vocalist for a man. THAT WOMAN KICKS ASS! She really knows metal. She proved that a woman could be just as kick ass as the men in the world of metal when she joined Arch Enemy in 2001/2002, on their highly praised album, Wages of Sin. Angela Gossow and Arch Enemy were really the first group to show that a woman could lead such an intense group, forever changing metal.
16
Disturbed
Any true metal head can identify Disturbed. These crazy motha ers brought us such hits as The Sickness, Get Psycho, and Stupify. They pushed the envelope with their crazy as hell lyrics. All the while gaining much respect in the world of Metal.
15
Rob Zombie/White Zombie
This crazy sonofa bitch is soley responsible for many nightmares!! I have experienced many many nightmares and sleepless nights because of his AWESOME music (probably because I picked up the first album of his I ever bought at the age of 7). He is a prime example of Metal at its best. His videos are the stuff of metal legend. The song tha got me really hooked was Never Gonna Stop. I listen to that song over and over for hours. He has become much more pronounced in his crazy as hell lifestyle with his persuit of a director career. Writing and directing House of a Thousand Corpses, and The Devils Rejects (I highly reccomend both of them)
14
Ozzy Osbourne
Really,do I have to write anything, I am confident that everyone is well educated in th elegacy that is Ozzy. If not PM me and I will inform you.
13
Kiss
Simply put,Kiss is one of the craziest and best bandsI have ever hadthe pleasure of spending $19.95 on an album of!!! They are well known for putting on one hell of a show, their legendary face paint, and that crazy mothaers tongue!!!!
12
Poison
Everyone has heard Poison at some pont. they are the gods responsible for that kick ass ballad Every Rose has its Thorn. They are known for their outfits including top hats, and many flags which depict the members of the group as skulls with hair and top hats. Poison is probably one of the best hair bands out there.
11
Lynnard Skynnard
Although he doesn't really qualify as Hardcore or Metal, he is still one of the best guitarists out there today. All I have to say. (I don't know too much about him, so it may have been one of the members of his band that was the kick ass guitarist, but I dunno)
10
Jimmi Hendrix
I don't think I need to say anything here, if you breathe you have at least listened to Purple Haze, that is justification enough for giving hin the ten spot.
9
Adema
Not a widely known group, download it, thats all I got to say! I'll let you folks find out why I rank them so high.
8
Mudvayne
LISTEN TO MUDVAYNE!!!!!! Mudvayne is a band like no other. They are very straight forward, not afraid to speak out on anything. WOW. In their song Monolith, they talk about humans evelving from apes because we were exposed to a mushroom. Seriously, who the hell can argue with that???
7
From These Ashes (FTA)
I doubt that anyone of you has heard of this kick ass band. That is because they aren't big yet. But they will be, count on it. They started close to where I live, actually, my best friend (not Zeus) brother is the guitarist. You have tolisten to them to believe it. They seriously kick ass. I think you can download some of their stuff, but don't quote me on that. And if anyone is serious and wants one of their CD's, pm me and I'll tell you how to get one.
6
Slipknot
You all knowthese crazy bastards! They aren't afraid to be unique, and put out some of the best music I have EVER heard in my life! They have a sound all their own, which the crowd just Eats up. don't believe me? List en to Scissors, Spit It Out, ot Tattered and Torn. Then watch the Spit It Out video. Really, it is the !
5
Atreyu
These s get #5 for putting out some of the best beats in a long time! Right Side of the Bed, and Bleeding Mascara, listen to them. They are on their album The Curse. You'll know what I mean.
4
Pantera
I respect thesemen very much, as a guitarist and as a huge fan. They really changed how I play guitar and how I look at the art of guitar playing. They give new meaning to the termin your face!!! I was watching a documentary about this seriously kick ass group on VH1, and they were described perfectally. They are nuts. and their sound is straight from hell. It sounds like what should be playing as you approach the gatesof hell, either that or Ricky Martin. The band hasn't been the same since the death of Dimebag, guitarins, may he rest in peace. To say the least, great songs, and an even great contribution to the world of heavy Metal.
3
Metallica
Wow, where to start. I grew up listening to Metallica. When I was four (I think I was four....), my mom bought me their Load album on casette. Within a year I had played it so much the ribbon ripped, at which point I cried like a little girl!!! There is so much history surrounding this band. They had a hell of a run, then a band mate died (I don't like to talk about him because he had the same name as a friend of mine who died from the same cause, well, not the same, yeah, the same) and then they had some troubles, landing them in rehab. Before rehab, they were known for fighting on stage, bring and consuming alcoholic beverages on satge, and serious drug abuse. Whats not to love? I suggest listening to their first and only (so far) post rehab album, St. Anger (notstreet anger, Saint Anger)
2
Trivium
Still a very newgroup, only having two albums and a demo out, they have brought a very new sound to metal in the vocals department. They have a more even mixture of singing and screaming than I have ever found. They are still into the traditional metal mojo, screaming, as made obvious in my favorite song by them, Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr. Also, Rain, Like Light to the Flies, Dying in your Arms, Ascendency, and Declaration, as well as Demon (off of their demo cd, if you want that you have to download it!) are the best of their work I have found so far. THe rest is nothing short of phenominal though.
1
Avenged Sevenfold
You all have heard and seen the video for BAt Country, in my opinion their most widley known song. But have you heard Unholy Confessions, or Blinded in Chains? these two songs do an even better job of demonstrating the band's unelicpsed, and truly unparalled abilities and talent. With amazing guitarists, drummers, and awesome vocals, this band has won its way into my mind as the best Metal band of all time. I am not going to drone on forever (I can, really) so I'll leave it at that.
I would love to hear your feedback, I don't care if you disagree, but i am willing to debate with anyone on why I chose what I did.
